iPackr Previews and Unzips Archives on OS X [File Compression]

Mac only: iPackr is a free Mac app that, unlike many other unarchivers for OS X, gives you the option to preview and manually extract the files in an archive.

Our favorite file archive utility for Mac, The Unarchiver, is great because it integrates so well with the Finder. Just double click on an archive, and it'll extract it to that folder for you. If you're looking for something a bit more traditional and advanced, though, you usually have to shell out some money. iPacker lets you see what's in an archive before you extract it. You can add or remove files, convert it to a different archive type, or even live preview text and image files right from the app's built-in preview pane. It supports creating 7z, ZIP, and RAR archives, and supports decompressing gz and bz2 archives in addition to the others.

TweetDeck Updates with Inline Image Previews, Twitter Lists, and More [Video]

 TweetDeck's new non-AIR client was a little lacking in features when it first came out, but today it received a major update that makes it much more tempting. New features include full support for Twitter lists, inline media previews, a new format for retweets, and more.

The inline image previews are arguably the best part of this new update, showing you pictures and videos inside the stream, without requiring you to click on a link. The new lists feature is nice if you're a fan of Twitter lists, though, and the new Activity and Interactions columns are an interesting way to keep up with your Twitter friends. They've also updated the retweet feature, now allowing you to use the "RT @username tweet" format rather than the less popular quote format.

Its filters still aren't as advanced as the old TweetDeck, and it's still missing a few of the AIR client's other great features, but if you've been waffling between the two, these new features might be enough to tip the scales.
