Some Creative Ideas to Build Link for Your Website!

I was thinking about writing a blog post from last one month, but I was so busy with so many tensions in my professional life that did not get the time to write a single post. Although in between I tried writing on a few topics on blogging tips, but then would not be able to complete them.

Finally after so many days I am a bit relaxed now with the tensions of my life and can concentrate on my blog now. I was thinking to write a post for techacid.com and then suddenly I remembered that a few months back I wrote an interesting post on how to write killer blog post for your blog, and hence this time I decided to use the same topic to provide something which is more important for all the website and blog owners.

So here we go with the topic of some creative ideas to build link for your website. As we all know that links plays an important role in the search engine optimization (SEO) of any website. Being a site owner we always wanted to bring our website at the first position in Google and other search engines SERP (Search Engine Result Pages). Being a webmaster I am sure we all are aware that links plays a huge role in achieving the same.

Let me tell you a very interesting incident which happened with my site a few days back. Don’t know how something unusual happened with the site and all the posts went away for some time. It was such a pain that I cannot explain in words, and this is why I always suggest you all to take the proper backup of your website (also read Why is Backing Up your Blog Important?). Thanks to Hostgator, they restored the site with the help of the backups, and I became a bit relaxed.

The problem happened after a few days. Out of sudden I realized that the visitors of the site went down from a level of around thousand plus daily unique visitor to less than hundred only. Out of sudden I realized that my site went out of the Google SERP, and frankly I lost all my hopes. For some of the keywords like benefits of cell phones, my site was coming at the very first place in Google searches, but out of sudden it went out of the results. Frankly I became so frustrated that I can’t tell you in words. And do you know the reason, why it happened with my site, it was really surprising for me, as I repaired the database and everything went all right. Thank God.

Creative Ideas to Build Link for Your Website!

Let’s get back to the topic, I am sure you all were thinking that why am I telling this story. The story was to let you know that it was my creative ideas which resulted me so many back links so that my website is coming at the first place for many keywords in Google and other search engines result pages. There was a time when people use to sit for hours and collect the list of potential link partners and then to mail them either one by one, or through bulk mails, and then after so many days be able to create a few links for their website. They use to send thousands of requests for links, but hardly be able to receive a few links. Thus in my opinion it was really a waste of time and effort.

So what is the alternative? Here are a few creative ideas which can provide so many links for your website and that too without asking anyone.

Writing great content is one of the simplest and finest ways to build so many back links to your website. As I already mentioned that always try to give at least one link to your own website in the article as there are many people in this world who will actually copy and publish your post as it is on their own website, that too without giving any credit back to your site. Thus if you are using links to your own site, then they will unknowingly link back to your website and thus you will get an unique back link which will provide you the much needed SEO benefits and sometimes the Page Rank too.

One of the finest way to build back links to your website is to write great articles for other article directories like ezinearticles, goarticles etc. Publishing your article on such websites will automatically give you hundreds of back links from different websites, as many people use to use the same articles on their own website, but they would need to keep all the links same as it is there in the original article. Thus be careful to place correct links with proper anchor text to your website while submitting your articles in article directories. Also remember to follow their submission guidelines too.

Many people will include this point in the above point only, but in my opinion guest blogging is the most powerful ways to gain link and reputation these days. Guest blogging is one of the finest way to build links to your website and that too for free and with a reputation too. Blog comments are also one of the finest ways to build back links to your website. Frankly this is the simplest looking activity, but in my opinion this is the toughest one too. Always remember that there is a very small gap in between the genuine comments and spamming. So always try to write genuine comments, as per the post of the other websites and you will automatically gain the links. Also avoid submitting comments on the sites which follow the rules of Rel=”nofollow”.

Forums are also one of the best ways to build links to your website, that too without asking the same. You can always allow placing a few links as the signature links. But always remember not to spam the forum as it will harm the image of your website. Forums are meant to provide useful and informative information, and you can really become popular if you can provide the same to the other users.

Discussion groups are more or less similar to the forums, if you can be able to provide useful and quality information to other users then you can easily be able to build links to your website.

Forget about the bigger giants of social bookmarking sites, it is always better to submit your links to many smaller social bookmarking sites as they will return you the much needed SEO benefits along with the reputation too.

Frankly speaking if you really want to get something then you must need to give something too. Thus if you really want to build links to your website you should need to give some unique concept to the visitors, like providing a free e-books, or providing a free games, providing short reviews to something which you are liking along with the links to them, etc. I am sure that these tips will surely help your website to create many-many back links and that too without being asked for the same.

21 Counter-Intuitive Break Ideas to Boost Your Productivity at Work

Every self-help program talks about the importance of taking a 10-15 minute break to boost your productivity.

Breaks give us much needed time to rest our eyes, move around, stretch our stiff muscles, get more blood and oxygen flowing to our brain, to unwind and obtain a fresh outlook on complex work problems.

There is just one problem – we often forget to take them. (Note: Going to the bathroom, grabbing a cup of coffee or checking Facebook updates does not count, as these activities hardly give us enough time to energize our body and restore our concentration and productivity.)

As strange as it may sound, taking regular breaks throughout the work day requires discipline and a little bit of planning. Actually, the reason why so many people push themselves to the limit of exhaustion is simple – they just can not think of any interesting activities they can do, during their break time. So they end up working for 4-5 hours straight until their body offers them a painful reminder.

If this sounds like you, here are 21 Counter-Intuitive Break ideas that help to restore your energy, sharpen your focus, boost productivity and avoid burnout at work.

1. Listen to a guided meditation. There are plenty of 10-15 minute meditations that allow you to trigger your creativity, let go of muscles tension and take your mind of the work at hand.

All you have to do is put on a headset, close your eyes and enjoy peace and relaxation even in the midst of work chaos.

2. Share your break with a co-worker. Alone, you might not always have the strength to pull yourself away from the computer, but if you have a friend taking breaks with you, it is much easier to stick with your break routine. In addition, it offers a great opportunity to bond with your colleagues and get to know them better.

3. Step outside for a fresh perspective. Leaving a stuffy office and letting yourself enjoy the warmth of the sunlight, the coolness of a breeze and the freshness of the spring air can do miracles to your mind and body. You will come back feeling rejuvenated and ready to approach your work with new energy and a fresh perspective.

4. Close your eyes and take 10 deep breaths. Stand up and walk away from your desk. Find a quiet place, where you can sit down, close your eyes, smile to yourself and take a few deep breaths. Imagine tension, stress and anxiety leaving your body as you breathe out, and peacefulness, positivity and relaxation filling your mind with every breath that you take.

5. Say NO to tension headaches. Slowly roll your neck to the right noticing a slight tension in your neck muscles. Hold this position for a count of 120 (2 minutes), then turn your head to the opposite side and repeat. Enjoy the feeling of warmth and flexibility return to your neck and shoulders.

6. Try people-gazing. Watching people walking down the street, chatting in a nearby café, and driving by, is meditation in itself. In addition looking outside the window helps to take the strain off the eyes.

7. Rock out to some great music. Music is a great mood changer, especially if you allow yourself to get up and move with it. Just a few minutes of humming and dancing can put a smile on your face and get your blood moving.

8. Take a Thumb and Pinkie Brain Break. This is a great break idea if you need a quick distraction from the problem at hand to get your creative juices flowing:

Take your left hand and have your fingers in and your thumb up.Then take your right hand and put all the fingers in except the pinkie. So in other words, your left thumb up and right pinkie out.Now switch the roles of your hands. And now try doing it faster.

Not as simple as it looked, right?

9. Delete some tasks from your to-do list. What can be more satisfying than taking a long hard look at your do-to list and crossing off a few unimportant tasks?

10. Eat an apple. S-L-O-W-L-Y. In the middle of a busy day, when you feel rushed, take a 2-3 minute break to eat an apple (or another fruit that you like). Just do it very slowly. Notice the flavor, the texture, the freshness. Doing something at a slow pace might feel weird, even annoying at first. But after a few minutes you feel much calmer and less stressed.

11. Say Thank you. Grab a notecard and your favorite pen and write a quick thank you to someone you appreciate. Then attach a stamp and go downstairs to put it in a mailbox. This simple act of gratitude will take your focus away from any pressing work problems and will put you in a good mood.

12. Take a “No Cell-phone Walk”. Leave your cell-phone in the office and head outside for a brisk walk. Shake off apathy and fatigue. Walk even faster, raising your heartbeat and letting the excitement and the sense of freedom re-charge your mind and body.

13. Read a magazine or a book. Pick a read that has nothing to do with your area of work or the latest news. Give your brain the pleasure of not to thinking, being stressed or making decisions.

14. Re-waterize yourself. First drink a full glass of water. Second splash some water on your face: warm to relax, cold – to wake up and energize yourself.

15. Make animals of the clouds. This is a great exercise to entertain your children, but it is also a great game you can play alone as it helps to tap into your creative potential and distract your mind from upcoming deadlines or customer complaints.

16. Pick up the pace. If you feel yourself tired and sleepy, deliberately pick up the pace, and try to move a little faster than usual. Type faster. Speak faster. Read faster. Make decisions faster. And, of course, go home sooner.

17. Laugh off the tension. You can start by simply saying, “Ha, ha, ha.” and keep repeating it, until you are really laughing. A few minutes of a good belly laugh help to get rid of tension, relax a lot of involuntary muscles and increase blood circulation.

18. Stretch out stiffness. Getting up from your desk to do a set of sun salutations or this might not be an option if you work in a room full of people. But it does not mean that you should deprive yourself of the pleasure of stretching your body and getting some exercise. Try a simple stretching exercise.

Plant your feet firmly on the ground, lift your arms and look at your palms.Stretch your spine for about 30-60 seconds, gradually increasing pressure, as if you were trying to touch the ceiling with your fingers.Relax, lower your arms and feel the energy moving up your spine.

19. Do something artistic. Write a short, funny poem and dedicate it to your co-worker. Draw a picture for your kids. Take a few photos of your surroundings. Let your creative side shine!

20. Unclutter your desk. A great way to take a much needed break, while looking “busy” is to unclutter your desk. Not only is it relaxing, it also helps to activate productive energy flow.

21. Juggle. Learning to juggle isn’t particularly difficult and it could be a great exercise to take during a break (maybe not in the office itself, but in a place, where balls flying left and right will not bother anyone). Juggling requires fine muscle control, timing and concentration. But most importantly, it is fun!

Christmas Gift Ideas

Christmas is coming soon so I thought I’d do a few posts with gift ideas based on things I’ve used this year and found to be exceptionally useful and or fun. Here is the first post and I’ll try to do a few more as I think of ideas and have time to write about them. If you have suggestions, please add them in the comments. You might be able to suggest the perfect gift that another reader hadn’t though of.

Fingerless Gloves ~ $3.50

My office is in the walk-out basement of our home. It is typically 60 to 65 degrees in the winter, but when there is a strong wind on the walk out portion of the house, it can get a lot colder. This isn’t to big of deal because I can usually just put on a sweatshirt, but I have to be able to type. These gloves keep my hands warm but let me still use my fingers. I wish I had of had these when I was getting my  undergraduate degree in music because it would have made early morning piano practicing much more comfortable and productive.

GPS Units – $99 to $350

If you add a navigation package to a new car it will probably cost you thousands of dollars.  I’ve never understood why this is, when a typical GPS unit can be had for $100 to $300. If you are looking to get someone a GPS, you might want to consider units that come with lifetime map updates. My first unit didn’t have this and with map updates costing $99 I put it off for awhile and eventually just bought a new GPS when it kept trying to send us to restaurants and stores that were closed or moved. In addition to the lifetime map updates, some of the newer models include free traffic updates–something that you previously had to pay $20 per month to get. This will try to route you around road closures and congestion. It is particularly helpful in a big city.

One of the best deals I’ve found is the 5 inch TomTom XXL. It isn’t the newest GPS, but it does come with lifetime map and traffic updates for just under $100.

Amazon Kindle ~ $79 to $199

While a lot of people will be getting the $99 Kindle Touch and the $199 Kindle Fire for Christmas, I wanted to point out some of the advantages of the $139 Kindle Keyboard 3G. It has the 3G support, but allows you to browse the web from the device over the 3G network–something you can’t do with the other devices. Obviously this is a horrible way to do general web browsing, but it is a great way to read longer form web content–particularly Wikipedia articles. So if you want to carry around something that lets you read live content from the web over 3G, this is probably the only way to do it without paying a monthly fee.

The 3G connection means you can look up things on the fly on the road. While most smart phones can do this as well, it isn’t nearly as comfortable to read on your smart phone screen as it is on the e-ink display of the Kindle.
