Some Creative Ideas to Build Link for Your Website!

I was thinking about writing a blog post from last one month, but I was so busy with so many tensions in my professional life that did not get the time to write a single post. Although in between I tried writing on a few topics on blogging tips, but then would not be able to complete them.

Finally after so many days I am a bit relaxed now with the tensions of my life and can concentrate on my blog now. I was thinking to write a post for techacid.com and then suddenly I remembered that a few months back I wrote an interesting post on how to write killer blog post for your blog, and hence this time I decided to use the same topic to provide something which is more important for all the website and blog owners.

So here we go with the topic of some creative ideas to build link for your website. As we all know that links plays an important role in the search engine optimization (SEO) of any website. Being a site owner we always wanted to bring our website at the first position in Google and other search engines SERP (Search Engine Result Pages). Being a webmaster I am sure we all are aware that links plays a huge role in achieving the same.

Let me tell you a very interesting incident which happened with my site a few days back. Don’t know how something unusual happened with the site and all the posts went away for some time. It was such a pain that I cannot explain in words, and this is why I always suggest you all to take the proper backup of your website (also read Why is Backing Up your Blog Important?). Thanks to Hostgator, they restored the site with the help of the backups, and I became a bit relaxed.

The problem happened after a few days. Out of sudden I realized that the visitors of the site went down from a level of around thousand plus daily unique visitor to less than hundred only. Out of sudden I realized that my site went out of the Google SERP, and frankly I lost all my hopes. For some of the keywords like benefits of cell phones, my site was coming at the very first place in Google searches, but out of sudden it went out of the results. Frankly I became so frustrated that I can’t tell you in words. And do you know the reason, why it happened with my site, it was really surprising for me, as I repaired the database and everything went all right. Thank God.

Let’s get back to the topic, I am sure you all were thinking that why am I telling this story. The story was to let you know that it was my creative ideas which resulted me so many back links so that my website is coming at the first place for many keywords in Google and other search engines result pages. There was a time when people use to sit for hours and collect the list of potential link partners and then to mail them either one by one, or through bulk mails, and then after so many days be able to create a few links for their website. They use to send thousands of requests for links, but hardly be able to receive a few links. Thus in my opinion it was really a waste of time and effort.

So what is the alternative? Here are a few creative ideas which can provide so many links for your website and that too without asking anyone.

Writing great content is one of the simplest and finest ways to build so many back links to your website. As I already mentioned that always try to give at least one link to your own website in the article as there are many people in this world who will actually copy and publish your post as it is on their own website, that too without giving any credit back to your site. Thus if you are using links to your own site, then they will unknowingly link back to your website and thus you will get an unique back link which will provide you the much needed SEO benefits and sometimes the Page Rank too.

One of the finest way to build back links to your website is to write great articles for other article directories like ezinearticles, goarticles etc. Publishing your article on such websites will automatically give you hundreds of back links from different websites, as many people use to use the same articles on their own website, but they would need to keep all the links same as it is there in the original article. Thus be careful to place correct links with proper anchor text to your website while submitting your articles in article directories. Also remember to follow their submission guidelines too.

Many people will include this point in the above point only, but in my opinion guest blogging is the most powerful ways to gain link and reputation these days. Guest blogging is one of the finest way to build links to your website and that too for free and with a reputation too. Blog comments are also one of the finest ways to build back links to your website. Frankly this is the simplest looking activity, but in my opinion this is the toughest one too. Always remember that there is a very small gap in between the genuine comments and spamming. So always try to write genuine comments, as per the post of the other websites and you will automatically gain the links. Also avoid submitting comments on the sites which follow the rules of Rel=”nofollow”.

Forums are also one of the best ways to build links to your website, that too without asking the same. You can always allow placing a few links as the signature links. But always remember not to spam the forum as it will harm the image of your website. Forums are meant to provide useful and informative information, and you can really become popular if you can provide the same to the other users.

Discussion groups are more or less similar to the forums, if you can be able to provide useful and quality information to other users then you can easily be able to build links to your website.

Forget about the bigger giants of social bookmarking sites, it is always better to submit your links to many smaller social bookmarking sites as they will return you the much needed SEO benefits along with the reputation too.

Frankly speaking if you really want to get something then you must need to give something too. Thus if you really want to build links to your website you should need to give some unique concept to the visitors, like providing a free e-books, or providing a free games, providing short reviews to something which you are liking along with the links to them, etc. I am sure that these tips will surely help your website to create many-many back links and that too without being asked for the same.

Build a Sturdy, Wooden Hammock Out of Tree Branches [DIY]

There's nothing like a little outdoor relaxation when the weather gets warm, but if traditional hammocks are just a bit too difficult and uncomfortable for you, you can make a sturdier hammock-like hanging chair out of tree branches.

It takes a lot of work to put together, but it's more tedious work than it is difficult—as long as you're comfortable cutting up a few tree branches, you shouldn't have too much trouble with the rest. You just need to cut them into 2" long pieces, drill a hole through each one, and thread your hammock string through. You'll get something like the above picture, which is more comfortable than a regular chair or swing, but not quite as absurd as a regular hammock. Hit the link to see a full how-to.

Build your uncluttering and organizing skills by helping others

After being told by a teacher in high school that my writing was “average, at best,” I set out on a mission to improve my writing skills. I studied and practiced during my free time, which was an odd pastime for a teenager, and I pushed myself to learn whatever I could. I found I really enjoyed writing, and ended up pursuing a journalism degree in college. In graduate school, I kept with the writing theme and produced my master’s thesis on how to help non-native English speakers acquire vocabulary words based on morphemes to improve their writing and reading comprehension. Studying texts, taking classes, researching the brain and how it stores and uses languages were all fine methods for acquiring information about writing, and my writing did improve — but it wasn’t until I stepped into a classroom and taught 15-year-old students how to improve their writing that I truly blossomed as a writer.

My first year of teaching, a student wrote on a worksheet the following misquoted phrase from The Great Gatsby: “the cocktail yellow music.”

I knew “the cocktail yellow music” wasn’t grammatically correct (nor was it how Fitzgerald had penned it), but I didn’t know why. I didn’t want to mark it wrong on my student’s worksheet until I was sure I could explain to her why it was wrong. I tracked down an accomplished linguistics professor, and she explained to me that adjectives in English have a preference order. As a native English speaker, I instinctually used adjectives in the correct order but had never once thought about it. The adjectives simply flowed out of me in the way that sounded correct. Obviously, the phrase should be “the yellow cocktail music,” which is how it appears in the original text. The grammatical reason it should be this way is because color adjectives are listed before purpose adjectives. Yellow (a color) needs to come before the purpose for the music (the cocktail party). Three or four times a week, a student would ask me questions I couldn’t yet answer or make mistakes with their writing I knew were wrong but didn’t know why. I was pushed to learn why the word it takes the possessive unlike other words in the English language, why we say beef when talking about eating cows but don’t have separate words for eating fish or vegetables, why our brains go blind to overused words like said when we read, why it’s now acceptable to split infinitives but wasn’t always, how the passive voice can sometimes better convey information than the active voice, why it’s okay to end sentences with prepositions, and thousands of other specific quirks related to English communication. Teaching young adults how to improve their writing significantly improved my writing. Then, practicing these skills daily has helped me to retain what I learned.

I’ve found the exact same thing to be true with uncluttering and organizing. The more I help others to unclutter and organize their spaces, the better I become at doing these tasks in my own home and office. When I help others, my skill set benefits.

If you’re having issues in your own spaces with clutter and disorganization, help friends to unclutter and organize their homes and offices. Share what knowledge you have (which is probably more than you give yourself credit for knowing) and be open to learning through the process and from your friend. Seek out answers and solutions, and also absorb what you can from those around you. Practice, practice, practice your skills with your friends. Then, if you have good friends, they will return the favor and help to mentor you as you go through your uncluttering and organizing projects. You also may feel confident after your experiences to simply take on your projects alone.

If your friends aren’t game for such an activity, donate some of your time to a charity to clean out and organize a soup kitchen pantry or a game room at a women’s shelter or a clothing closet for a group that provides clothes for job interviews. Mentor your children by bringing them with you to sort materials at a charity’s donation site. You don’t have to work with people you know to build your skills, and it’s often easier to work with items void of your sentimental attachments.

Get out there and help others, which will in turn help build your uncluttering and organizing skills.

Use Mirroring and Matching to Build a Good Rapport and Become More Persuasive [Mind Hacks]

Persuading a friend, boss, or coworker of your point can be tough even if you have a set of stats to back you up. According to Stepcase Lifehack, one of the most underutilized techniques for being more persuasive is building a good rapport through matching and mirroring.

Instead of arguing your point in your own private way, mirror the person you're talking to in body language, speed of your voice, volume, and even your word choice. You need to be subtle when doing this, but it's a subconscious way to make the person you're speaking with more comfortable. If they cross their legs, cross yours. If they speak with hand gestures, you should do the same. It's not just the physical aspects. Change the volume of your voice and the speed of the the conversation to match as well. If they're talking slowly and in a deep voice, try to do the same.

Build Your Own Tiny Wi-Fi Camera [DIY]

Ever wanted to build your own tiny remote monitoring camera to keep track of who's sticking their hand in the cookie jar? The Internet of Things camera is an open-source camera build based on an Arduino that can be set up to snap pictures at regular intervals or even with a motion sensor.

Created by the parts supplier and Arduino tutorial creator Adafruit, the camera is built using an Arduino, an Eye-Fi Wi-Fi SD card, a TTL Serial JPEG camera, and a few other parts. Once built, you can set the camera to take pictures at regular intervals for some simple time-lapse photography, or connect it to a motion sensor and use it as a cheap security system to see what your loved ones are doing around the house when you're not home. It's a pretty simple build and you can find the full tutorial, software, and parts list over on Adafruit.

I haven't left my office once today without bringing our octopus to show someone.

This thing is fascinating, both in terms of how it came to be, and also for how good it looks. It still has a few wisps of plastic hanging off it. Each eye socket also has a small loop of plastic drooping down from where it meets the head. For those few lines, gravity apparently overcame the adhesion properties of the melted filament.

But I still can't stop marveling at the contours of the design. From the shape of its bulbous head, to the way the mouth portion transitions seamlessly into the front tentacles, even though I can see and feel the ridges from the layered plastic, our octopus has the look and feel of a professional design. Many kudos to Thingiverse user Brian "yeoldebrian" Emerson for his excellent 3D modeling work.

For all of the gee-whiz feeling I get from looking at our creation, as well as the printer itself, I also feel like we barely understand the full capabilities of our MakerGearMosaic 3D printer, its software, and the plastic feedstock.

For example, there's a "skin" feature in the Skeinforge settings software that's supposed to smooth the outer layer of your object to give it a more polished feel. I'd like to try it.

I'm also interested to know how the output would differ if we switched to ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) plastic, instead of the 1.75mm PLA (polylactic acid) plastic included in our Mosaic kit. Or what if we used 3.5mm PLA instead?

Or what if we used a different infill pattern? Or changed the filament feed rate? Or upped the extruder speed? We can adjust all of those things and others in Skeinforge. The possibilities are exciting, and I expect many trial prints and a lot of melted plastic in the coming weeks.

The beauty of the Mosiac, and all of the 3D printers that support the various open-source printing apps out there is their high degree of tweakability. Skeinforge has a huge assortment of options, to the point that it's daunting. It has exotic-sounding functions like "clairvoyance," "oozebane," and "splodge." The Skeinforge wiki helps to a certain extent, but even after reading, how those functions ultimately affect the output is still a bit unclear.

That brings up another point. I didn't touch on this much throughout the week, but there is a passionate, active 3D-printing community available to help online if you're willing to seek them out. We found the answers to most of our problems via the MakerGear Google group, but MakerGear also operates an IRC channel, and owner Rick Pollack tells me that the community usually answers questions there within a few minutes. Rick says that might have shaved a few hours from our estimated 16-hour built-to-print time. Even beyond MakerGear-specific support, the 3D-printing enthusiast community has volumes of information available online.

As taken as I am by this still-emerging category, I have a pile of desktops in the lab that also need attention. The next time we check in with 3D printing hands-on will hopefully be when we have a pre-assembled 3D printer to subject to a full review. Between now and then, I hope to spend more time with our printer to experiment and dig deeper into the software.
