Build a Sturdy, Wooden Hammock Out of Tree Branches [DIY]

There's nothing like a little outdoor relaxation when the weather gets warm, but if traditional hammocks are just a bit too difficult and uncomfortable for you, you can make a sturdier hammock-like hanging chair out of tree branches.

It takes a lot of work to put together, but it's more tedious work than it is difficult—as long as you're comfortable cutting up a few tree branches, you shouldn't have too much trouble with the rest. You just need to cut them into 2" long pieces, drill a hole through each one, and thread your hammock string through. You'll get something like the above picture, which is more comfortable than a regular chair or swing, but not quite as absurd as a regular hammock. Hit the link to see a full how-to.

Deseed a Pomegranate in 10 Seconds Using a Wooden Spoon [Video]

 Pomegranates are one of the best parts of Winter, but they take a lot of work to peel and deseed. YouTube user NaturalMarketer shows us how much time we've wasted by deseeding an entire pomegranate in mere seconds.

All you need to do is cut it in half as normal, push out the center a bit, then just start whacking the back of it with a wooden spoon. If done correctly, all the seeds should fall right out into the bowl. Check out the video above to see this genius trick in action.

Turn Wooden Shutters into a Multi-Pocket Wall Organizer [Clever Uses]

Surprisingly enough, wooden shutters can be wonderful to hang inside your home, not just outside. In your entryway or home office, the numerous louvers can hold messages, artwork, to-dos, and much more.

Martha Stewart says for adjustable louvers, you'll need to lock them into the up position by driving a brad through the tilt bar and into the frame. While there are three shutters shown here, painted and mounted together, you could use as many as you like.

I've also seen shutters used as wall magazine holders, so these are pretty versatile organizing tools to make the most of your vertical space.
